So let’s look at some frequently asked questions about the 2025 ID.Buzz, including its driving range and charge time.
What Will the ID.Buzz Cost?
Volkswagen hasn’t released the exact cost for the ID.Buzz yet. But based on estimations that compare it to other EV prices, experts anticipate this model having a starting MSRP of $50,000. Stay tuned for more updates about the precise cost of the ID.Buzz as we get closer to its official release date in June 2024.
Will the ID.Buzz Be Available in the U.S.?
The long-awaited ID.Buzz will be available for sale in the U.S. as soon as it’s released. Volkswagen announced that the ID.Buzz will appear in the U.S. in 2024, close to its official release date. And since this will almost be around the same time as its European release, you won’t have to wait too long to get your hands on one.
What Is the ID.Buzz’s Top Speed?
The top speed for the 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz is 99 mph, an impressive feat for an EV of its size. The ID.Buzz achieves this using a 91 kWh battery pack that sends power to an electric motor, which controls the vehicle’s rear wheels. While this vehicle has only one motor, it’s exceptionally powerful, producing 282 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque.
A dual-motor version will also be available closer to the official launch, offering even more power. And if you opt for this dual-motor version, you’ll see your ID.Buzz reaches 330 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The dual-motor model is also expected to come standard with all-wheel drive capabilities.
What Is the ID.Buzz’s Charge Time and Range?
With fully electric EVs, drivers typically want to know how long it takes to charge the vehicle and how far they can drive on a single charge. The ID.Buzz will have you covered, with a 268.4-mile driving range on a full charge. And while the actual range you achieve may depend on external factors, including weather, road conditions, and speed, it’s clear that on one charge, the ID.Buzz will be ready to handle any trip.
As for its charging time, the ID.Buzz has powerful capabilities enabling a high-speed charge. You’ll get the quickest time with the DC option, which has a combined charging system fast-charge port and a max power of 170 kW. With this setup, the average charging time to get to 80% is only 28 minutes. And if you select the standard Level 2 AC charging port, you can expect a max power output of 11 kW and an average charging time of eight hours and 15 minutes to get your ID.Buzz charged from 0% to 100%.
The Level 2 AC system charging time can also vary when you charge at home. That’s because various methods for home charging come with differing power capabilities. For instance, experts recognize the best input for charging the ID.Buzz at home as the Level 3 16A charging station. It takes around eight hours and 15 minutes to charge the vehicle’s battery from empty to full. And while the Level 3 32A station can also charge within the same time frame, experts say it may put out too much power for the ID.Buzz to take in safely.
You can also opt for lower-intensity charging stations, such as the Level 1 32A station, that charges the ID.Buzz in 12 hours and 15 minutes. In contrast, a Level 1 16A charging station may take up to 24 hours and 30 minutes for a full charge. Remember that you can use a wall plug to charge your EV whenever you’re in a pinch. Unfortunately, this can take up to 39 hours and 30 minutes, and experts only recommend this method in emergencies.
What Interior Features Does the ID.Buzz Have?
One of the most exciting aspects of the ID.Buzz is its expansive interior. With a configuration reminiscent of the classic Volkswagen Bus, there’s extensive cargo space and room for every passenger to spread out. Experts anticipate three rows of seats for the U.S. version, making it easy to bring seven passengers along for the ride. Opting for second-row captain’s chairs versus a bench will drop your capacity to six passengers. However, your second-row passengers will now have all the comfort and freedom of personal seats.
What Tech Features Are Available on the ID.Buzz?
The 2025 ID.Buzz will have plenty of tech features. The rumored 12.9-inch touch-screen display in the dashboard’s center is among the most anticipated perks. It’ll enable drivers to easily toggle between navigation, music, and other features. There’ll almost certainly be Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection capabilities to play all your favorite tunes or podcasts on the road. And while we’ve heard rumors of a second entertainment system in the rear, we don’t have any details yet on its capability.
Lastly, you can expect a wireless charging pad for charging your devices on the go and a Wi-Fi hotspot available by subscription.
