The 2021 Golf GTI sports a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder under the hood. It produces 296 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, with a top speed of 155 mph and a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds. The engine is either paired with six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission; the manual transmission is the standard equipment. Every 2021 Golf GTI also has a limited-slip differential. The Golf GTI 6MT gets 23-city/30-highway mpg. The Golf GTI 7DSG gets 24-city/32-highway mpg.

Driving Modes

The 2021 Golf GTI features three standard driving modes: Normal, Individual, and Sport. With the standard adaptive suspension dampers, the Autobahn trim gets a fourth mode: Comfort. The Normal mode provides a balance between power and efficiency. The Sport mode optimizes for engine output and drive feel. The Individual mode gives the driver control over steering, throttle response, and differential settings to tweak things to their liking.
