The 2017 Golf GTI is offered in four trims: S, Sport, SE and Autobahn, with a choice of either a manual or automatic transmission. Pricing starts at $25,595 MSRP for the GTI S (manual), up to $35,195 MSRP for the Autobahn (automatic). Please note: Pricing does not include the $820 destination fee.

2017 Golf GTI Engine Specs and Performance

Under the hood of the 2017 Golf GTI is a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged and direct-injection engine. It’s a member of the latest, third-generation EA888 engine family and a masterpiece of modern engine design that provides high levels of performance and drivability in a lightweight, compact package. It delivers an impressive 210 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. With the Performance Package, it gets a boost of 10 horsepower for a total of 220.

In addition to its impressive power, the Golf GTI’s EA888 engine is very efficient. When equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, the Golf GTI achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. When equipped with the optional six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, it gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
