What are the safety features in the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan?
Volkswagen gave the Tiguan a thorough redesign for the 2018 model-year, with a more refined and roomy interior, a more powerful engine and a plethora of advanced technology. The new Tiguan also gives its owners added reassurance with a wide array of safety features.
2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Safety Features
Safety features in the 2018 Tiguan include front and side-thorax airbags, which help protect the driver and front-seat passenger, while side curtain protection head airbags help protect those in the front and rear seats. Electronic assistance includes Electronic Stability Control, Anti-Slip Regulation, Anti-lock Braking System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Giving the Tiguan overall protection is its rigid laser-seam-welded bodyshell, a crash-optimized and energy-absorbing front end and heat-formed steel center B-pillars.

Safety in the 2018 Tiguan is further enhanced by its Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which applies the brakes when a primary collision is detected by the airbag sensors, thus helping reduce residual kinetic energy and, in turn, the chance of additional damage. The Tiguan also features the advanced Volkswagen Intelligent Crash Response System that automatically shuts off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors and switches on the hazard warning lights if the airbags deploy.

Making the 2018 Tiguan an even safer vehicle is its multitude of driver assistance features. This includes standard rearview camera and available Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, front and rear Park Distance Control, High Beam Control and Overhead View Camera.
