The 2021 Tiguan and 2021 CR-V go blow-for-blow when it comes to cargo space and seating dimensions. However, the Tiguan can be bought in a two-row or three-row configuration, meaning the max seating capacity is seven. The 2021 Honda CR-V has a max seating capacity of five. And since the extra space the CR-V has is negligible compared the Tiguan, the 2021 Tiguan wins this category hands-down.
Neither the Tiguan nor the CR-V will be winning races anytime soon, but the Tiguan is noticeably more responsive than the CR-V. The extra 22 lb-ft of torque and refined eight-speed automatic transmission give the Tiguan more get-up-and-go than the CR-V. With better low-range acceleration and highway responsiveness than the CR-V, the Tiguan is more reassuring when you need power. Not only that, but the CR-V standard engine is loud. It’s tolerable at normal speeds, but any acceleration produces a lot of engine drone. The Tiguan, on the other hand, is relatively quiet at all times.
