The crossover SUV is America’s sweetheart when it comes to the automotive industry. Chances are you know someone who owns at least one crossover, perhaps more than one. You may own one yourself. Due to this overwhelming popularity and demand, auto manufacturers have been refining their offerings, meaning the consumer keeps getting better and better options to choose from.
Let’s take a look at two of those offerings. Here’s the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan SE vs the 2020 Toyota RAV4 XLE.

Toyota is infamous for being behind the times when it comes to tech. The 2020 RAV4 is no different. Toyota Entune—the company’s proprietary smart device interface—is slow and clunky. The Tiguan interface, on the other hand, is simple and quick, with easy-to-read controls and intuitive commands.
Most of the 2020 Volkswagen lineup comes with a free five-year subscription to the relaunched Car-Net®, which lets you interact with your vehicles via a smart device. For instance, you can check your gas tank, lock and unlock the vehicle, locate it in a parking lot, and start it, all from your phone. The 2020 Tiguan also has an integrated 4G WiFi hotspot that can support up to four devices at a time.
The RAV4 has a lot of cargo space, for sure. At 69.8 cubic feet of space with the seats down, it’ll fit just about anything you need to put in it. The Tiguan exceeds that capacity by a decent amount, though. With its rear seats down, it has 73.5 cubic feet of cargo room. However, unlike the RAV4, with seats five people, the Tiguan has a third row of seating, upping its max capacity to seven.
