2020 Volkswagen Passat vs 2019 Volkswagen Passat
The Volkswagen Passat has long been a leading model for the midsize sedan segment, and with a delightful redesign for the 2020 model-year, with a bold new look, improved performance, and new technologies, it raises the bar even higher. Here at Capistrano Volkswagen, we highlight the upgrades for the 2020 Passat in this 2020 Volkswagen Passat vs 2019 Volkswagen Passat comparison.
The biggest change for the 2020 Passat its exterior design. It has a bolder look, with a dominant grille, a coupe-like profile, a prominent “tornado” line, slim LED headlights and taillights, and distinctive badging. Inside the 2020 Passat, the cabin has a new horizontal design theme, a sleek new instrument panel, and a new glass-covered touchscreen for the infotainment system. Also, unlike the outgoing model, the 2020 Passat offers available Nappa leather seats.
The Volkswagen Passat received a boost in performance for the 2020 model-year. Volkswagen reengineered the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder TSI engine, resulting in an output of 174 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. This is an increase of 23 lb-ft of torque over the outgoing model. On the safety front, the 2020 Passat comes standard with Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring. While the 2019 Passat offers Autonomous Emergency Braking, it doesn’t have a Pedestrian Monitoring feature.
The 2020 Passat continues to offer many of the great features of the 2019 Passat. This includes the MIB II infotainment system, the Fender Premium Audio system, the dual-zone Climatronic automatic climate control system, KESSY keyless access, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Also, the 2020 Passat continues to provide the generous “People First Warranty,” which is a 6-years/72,000-miles bumper-to-bumper Limited Warranty.
