Recent Ford vehicles have been plagued by outdated, bland interiors. The Edge definitely has this problem. Materials aren’t low-quality, but they are hard and scratchy. The control scheme is convoluted, with too many knobs, buttons, and switches where a few would suffice. The 2020 Atlas Cross Sport avoids these issues. As an all-new vehicle, the interior is fresh and minimalist, with excellent construction materials, especially at higher trims. Similarly, the control layout is signature Volkswagen efficiency, with clear labeling and intuitive placement.
Available Powertrain Options
The 2020 Atlas Cross Sport has two engine options available on every trim (except the base model S): a 235-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 276-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. If you’re okay sacrificing a little performance and utility to boost fuel economy and lower the upfront cost, then the turbocharged four-cylinder is a great option. However, if you prefer the larger V6 engine, with its improved power and capability, then you have that option on almost every trim. Every 2020 Edge comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, except the highest-tier, most expensive trim, the ST, which only comes with a turbocharged V6. If the type of engine you have in is important to you, then the Ford Edge loses major points for its inflexibility.
