The highly-capable Golf Alltrack is an all-new model for the 2017 model-year. While it shares many of the positive attributes of the other members of the Golf family, such as its fun-to-drive nature, interior refinement and versatility, it stands out even further with its incredible off-road prowess, with features like the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and cladding for key body pieces. The new Golf Attrack is expected to face competition from another off-road capable wagon, the Subaru Forester. Check out this 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack vs 2017 Subaru Forester comparison to see how they measure up.
The Golf Alltrack has the advantage for performance with its high-tech EA888 1.8-liter, four-cylinder TSI engine, generating 170 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to either a six-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission or a slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission. The Alltrack has the looks to match the off-road performance with its rugged, yet stylish appearance. Cladding for key body pieces, including the unique bumpers, wheel wells and side sills, gives off-road protection and the front fascia incorporates foglights and a unique honeycomb grille.

The 2017 Golf Alltrack gives the 2017 Forester a run for its money with its phenomenal off-road prowess. Much of this can be credited to its 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. In normal driving, the Alltrack acts like a front-wheel-drive car for better fuel economy, but as soon as the system detects wheel slip, up to 50 percent of the drive torque can be shipped to the rear wheels. A Drive Mode selector includes “Off-Road Mode,” which adds hill descent control and optimizes traction control for off-road terrain. Also, the Golf Alltrack's Off-Road HMI displays compass, steering angle and altitude when driving off-road.
Inside the Golf Alltrack, you can enjoy a refined and spacious cabin. Leatherette seating surfaces are standard, while a unique brown leatherette is a desirable option. The Golf Alltrack also features aluminum pedal covers, door sills with Alltrack branding, unique dashpad trim and ambient lighting. The stylish wagon also comes standard with impressive technology features, including the previously mentioned 6.5-inch capacitive color touchscreen with proximity sensor, rearview camera and VW Car-Net App-Connect connectivity.
