Over the span of more than four decades, the Volkswagen Passat has been a top choice for the midsize sedan segment, offering an impressive blend of style, excellent driving characteristics, interior refinement and practicality. For the 2018 model-year, the Passat continues to lead the way with improved performance, a new “People First” Warranty and new standard and available features across the trim lineup.
New Engine for 2018 VW Passat
The 2018 Passat offers a new base engine — the 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder, which replaces the 1.8-liter version in the previous model-year Passat. The new engine gets a boost in 4-hp for a total of 174 horsepower, and a boost in torque of 23 lb-ft for a total of 184 lb-ft of torque. It’s efficient as well, with a fuel economy of 25 city/36 hwy mpg. For greater power and performance, the Passat still offers the 3.6-liter VR6 engine, which produces 280 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

2018 VW Passat People First Warranty
Owners of the 2018 Passat will also benefit from the new People First Warranty. It includes a 6-year/72,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which also covers all of the powertrain components. This is very generous coverage when compared to the Passat’s competitors. Another positive aspect of the People First Warranty is that at any time during the 6-year/72,000-mile coverage period, you can transfer it to another owner if you sell the vehicle.
