Last week at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, Volkswagen debuted a new member of the VW I.D. family of all-electric concept vehicles: the Volkswagen I.D. BUGGY Concept. With classic design elements borrowed from California dune buggies of the 1960s, a versatile layout, and a fully-electric powertrain, the I.D. BUGGY provides a fun and functional driving experience.
Exterior Design of Volkswagen I.D. BUGGY
The open concept design and raised hood and fenders signal that the Volkswagen I.D. BUGGY is ready for some off-road adventures. The body of the I.D. BUGGY appears to float above the chassis, which is accentuated by the use of a two-tone color scheme, with matte Fern Green at the top and textured Grey Tech Blue at the bottom. The I.D. BUGGY is quite approachable, with no grille, doors, or roof. For rollover protection, the I.D. BUGGY features a Targa bar and a reinforced windscreen frame.

Interior Design of Volkswagen I.D. BUGGY
The interior of the Volkswagen I.D. BUGGY has a minimalistic design, with waterproofing materials and exterior design elements that continue into the cockpit area. The I.D. BUGGY can seat two people. Both the driver and passenger can enjoy a surprisingly large amount of space, which can be credited in part to the compact electric drive system that’s arranged on the outside of the vehicle. Additional interior features include a digital instrument cluster and a hexagonal steering wheel with water-resistant Nappa leather.

Electric Drive System in Volkswagen I.D. BUGGY
The Volkswagen I.D. BUGGY is powered by an emissions-free electric drive system, which delivers 201 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. The I.D. BUGGY can go from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds and offers a range of up to 155 miles. Excellent traction comes courtesy of the available all-wheel drive system and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A off-road tires.
