The Volkswagen Beijing Concept is a high-tech luxury hybrid SUV, and VW designed it to be one of the most advanced SUVs in the world, moving luxury SUV design to a more sporty and elegant level. The all-new SUV further demonstrates Volkswagen’s continued digitalization of their vehicles. The Beijing Concept’s digital operation and display system enable a completely new level of interactivity, with the Active Info Display and infotainment system seamlessly merging. The lounge-style interior and digitalized operation put a clear focus on the passengers.

High-Performance Hybrid Powertrain in VW Beijing Concept

With the VW Beijing Concept’s hybrid powertrain, the SUV gets the best of both worlds, for it delivers both spectacular power and efficiency. It produces an impressive 376 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 60 seconds and reaches a top speed of 139 mph. The Beijing Concept is expected to have a remarkable NEDC combined fuel consumption of 78 mpg, while achieving a fully electric range of 31 miles.

Volkswagen Concept Vehicles

In addition to the Beijing Concept, Volkswagen has debuted several other concept vehicles in recent months. Earlier in the year at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Volkswagen unveiled the BUDD-e concept van, which is inspired by the classic VW Bus, while featuring state-of-the technology and an all-electric powertrain. The Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Active Concept debuted at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Demonstrating the potential of plug-in hybrid systems, the Tiguan Active Concept includes all-wheel-drive technology that offers supreme off-road performance, even in all-electric mode.
