VW I.D. R Pikes Peak Race Car at Peterson Automotive Museum in LA
The Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak made a historic run at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb back in June, for the all-electric race car not only won the race, but it also achieved a record-breaking time. Automotive enthusiasts in South California can see the Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak in person, for it will be on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles from now until February 1, 2019.
The Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak comes equipped with a state-of-the-art electric powertrain, which delivers an impressive output of 670 horsepower. At the 12.42-mile course for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak beat out a field of both conventional and electric race cars with a time of 7:57.148 seconds. This beat out the previous record by 16.730 seconds.
Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak and “Driving Toward Tomorrow” Exhibit
The Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak will be parked outside the Mullin Design Studio at the Peterson Automotive Museum prior to the upcoming future-of-mobility exhibit “Driving Toward Tomorrow.” The exhibit showcases the automobile industry’s work in transportation design, engineering, and infrastructure. Other featured vehicles at the “Driving Toward Tomorrow” exhibit will include concept vehicles, making the I.D. R a great fit for the event, as the race car heralds Volkswagen initiative to have a lineup of fully electric I.D. production vehicles in the upcoming years.
