E-Golf experiences a spike in European sales
Move over, Nissan Leaf, the 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf is the new champ in European electric vehicle sales. For the first two months of this year, the Volkswagen electric vehicle, the e-Golf overtook the sales leader Nissan Leaf in terms of European sales. The e-Golf outsold the Leaf through February by more than 400 units. This shows that the e-Golf is delivering the high quality standard expected of Volkswagen vehicles.
A lot of credit for this goes to a big advertising push by Volkswagen. This increase in advertising led to the 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf selling more vehicles in countries that have sold many Nissan Leaf vehicles in the past such as Norway. Norway in particular was able to sell more than three times as many e-Golf vehicles as it did the Nissan Leaf. While the Leaf remains the top selling electric vehicle in the US, we can’t help but think Europe might be on to something.
Features in the e-Golf
The e-Golf comes with a 12,000-rpm, 85-kW electric motor that is the electric equivalent of a 115 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, it takes 4.2 seconds to get to 37 miles per hour and 10.4 to get to 62 miles per hour.
Interior features leatherette seats and surfaces with gray and black trim for a sleek look. With plenty of standard equipment, the e-Golf has plenty to offer to give you the best driving experience. Included as standard features, drivers get parking heater/ventilation, six-inch touchscreen radio and nav, a heated windscreen, leather steering wheel, and a leather gear knob.
As far as electric vehicles go, the e-Golf’s got a lot to offer. After the spike in sales over in Europe, it’s safe to say that the Volkswagen e-Golf is a force to be reckoned with.
