Happy Students After Announcement of Volkswagen Donation of eLabs Equipment

Volkswagen Aims to Improve Education with the eLabs Initiative

In addition to producing innovative and high-quality cars, Volkswagen aims to make a positive contribution to society with their numerous charitable projects and initiatives. This includes the eLabs Initiative, in which Volkswagen attempts to improve education by providing students with digital fabrication tools for guided learning experiences.

Volkswagen eLabs and Equipment Donation in Tennessee

With the eLabs Initiative, Volkswagen of Chattanooga recently announced the planned donation of state-of-the-art equipment to eight different schools in Tennessee. The Volkswagen of Chatanooga facility is where the VW Passat sedan and Atlas SUV are built. This brings the total to 16 schools, after the first eight were selected back in August 2017. The digital fabrication tools include automated manufacturing equipment, programmable microcomputers, renewable energy kits, 3D printers, robotics, laser cutters, and other emergent technologies. According to Volkswagen, the purpose of digital fabrication tools is to help empower students to engage in authentic problem-solving.
