2016 SportWagen specs

The Volkswagen Golf SportWagen is the popular choice among families looking for extra space for both passengers and gear. What makes it a great choice for families isn’t just its spacious interior, but its excellent fuel efficiency as well. Simply being comfortable and efficient isn’t enough for Volkswagen, though, as they have opted to add more technology to the 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen with the VW MIB II Infotainment System. With this system, drivers have access to even more entertainment, safety and convenience features.

After being redesigned in 2015, the SportWagen has received a surge in popularity. What’s more, its improvements don’t end there – this new interface adds a variety of features designed to make driving the SportWagen easy and safe.

New SportWagen technology

With the new addition of the VW MIB II infotainment system, the Golf SportWagen will include USB port connectivity and the new VW Car-Net App-Connect which allows connection between your vehicle and your Andriod® or Apple® device. You can access select apps through the 6.5-inch touchscreen integrated in the wagon’s console.

One of the new features added to the SportWagen is the rearview backup camera. This is now featured as a standard in the Golf SportWagen, so drivers can park and drive in reverse with ease. The S model for the 2016 SportWagen features comfortable cloth seats.

Safety technology is where the 2016 model really takes a leap forward. The 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen includes new features such as an updated Driver Assistance Package in the SE and SEL models. This package now includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Braking, Forward Collision Warning and a Lane Departure Warning, all designed to keep you safe and in control on the road. Other additions include a Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Park Distance Control and Parking Assist (see above).

Fuel economy is a big part of the appeal of the SportWagen, and the 2016 model doesn’t skimp out there. It’s capable of achieving an EPA rating of 25 mpg in the city and approximately 36 mpg on the highway, making it a great choice for drivers looking for plenty of capability and efficiency.
