Summer is finally here, and for many, that means one thing: road trips! There’s nothing like hitting the open road and finding adventure. Ensure your fun and safety by making a few preparations before hitting the road.
Before you take off and explore, make sure your trip goes off without a hitch by remembering these five essentials:
- Phone Charger
- Obviously, bringing a phone with you for directions or emergencies is probably the most important thing on this list, but since we use our phones for literally everything these days, you likely don’t need a reminder to bring it along. However, without the charger, your phone is pretty much useless after a day or two of travel. Keep an extra USB cord and adapter in your glove compartment, and you’ll never have to be worried about being disconnected.
- Sunglasses & Sunscreen
- Nothing stops summer fun as quickly as a bad sunburn. Don’t let it happen to you! Make sure to keep a bottle of sunscreen in your car to keep your skin safe from the pain of harmful rays. And don’t forget to read the label to find the strength best suited for you.
- Whether it’s in case of emergency, or to save you from spending extra cash and calories on sugary soft drinks every time you stop to fuel up, keeping a case of water in your car during a road trip is just a smart move.
- Jumper Cables
- What’s worse: Being stranded or having to pay a tow truck? A pair of jumper cables can help you avoid both of these scenarios. Keep a pair in your trunk to avoid getting stuck after someone inevitably forgets to unplug their phone or turn off the dome light overnight. And while you’re at it, you should do some research to make sure you know how to use them… just in case.
Keep your car packed with these essentials and assure yourself of a great road trip this summer!
