Are Volkswagen vehicles expensive to maintain? A new study weighs in.
Vincentric Study Ranks Multiple VW Vehicles in Lowest Maintenance Cost Category

The Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and Jetta rank #1 in lowest maintenance cost for midsize SUVs and compact sedan segments, respectively, according to a new study by Vincentric. Vincentric is an independent automotive consumer advocacy group. The Volkswagen Tiguan placed better than its Honda, Toyota, and Subaru competition in the compact SUV segment. The Volkswagen Passat and Arteon placed better than their Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai competitors in the midsize sedan segment.
What Did the Study Cover?
This Vincentric study looked the expected costs of maintenance over the first five years of ownership for every available MY2021 vehicle on the market. It concluded that the vehicles listed above costed less to take care of than other vehicles within their respective segments. Much of the savings comes from things like the Volkswagen Carefree Maintenance program that’s standard on 2021 VW vehicles which includes things like free maintenance, generous warranties, and VW Car-Net remote services access.
