What engine does the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan have?
All trim levels of the 2019 Tiguan come with the same engine, so no matter what your budget is, you will get the best engine available. All models come with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that is powered by 184 horses. With this engine, Tiguan drivers can average up to 29 highway mpg, 22 city mpg, and 25 combined mpg. Every trim comes available with 4MOTION® all-wheel drive which maximizes stability.
What is 4MOTION® all-wheel drive and how does it work?
If you want to get the most out of your performance, you should opt for VW 4MOTION® all-wheel drive. This system is specific to the VW brand and is not available on any other make. The 4MOTION® all-wheel drive system monitors which of the four wheels has the best traction. It then subsequently directs more torque to those wheels. If a slippery road or uneven terrain prevent a wheel from getting good traction, the system hits the brake on that wheel and diverts the remaining power elsewhere. Check out the video below for more information on how it works on the VW Golf (pst, it works the same on the Tiguan, but we couldn’t find as handy of a video for the Tiguan).
