2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Engine specs
Drivers of the 2015 Volkswagen Golf enjoy plenty of power under the hoods of their vehicles, which top out at 220 horsepower. However, if you’re looking for even more power out of your hatchback, you’ll be happy to know that Volkswagen has announced the 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport engine specs and the 2016 model of the Golf GTI will be the most powerful GTI yet.
The Clubsport is Volkswagen’s way of celebrating the past 40 years of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. From a style standpoint, the Clubsport model is similar to the 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI. It features many of the stylistic staples associated with the Golf GTI, however there have been some additions. An example of an addition to the Golf GTI is the Clubsport model’s highly innovative roof spoiler, which adds significant downforce to the Golf, making it easier to control, even at higher speeds.
With all of the power under the hood of the 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport, the extra control is definitely a good thing to have. The Clubsport will feature the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the Golf, however according to Volkswagen, it will be able to reach an outstanding output of 292 horsepower.
2016 VW Golf GTI Pricing and Release
While the official pricing of the Clubsport hasn’t been announced yet, we here at East Coast Volkswagen would determine it to be priced between the GTI and R models. If that is true, drivers will appreciate the powerful vehicle with a price tag in the range of $30,000.
Unfortunately, at the moment the 2016 VW Golf GTI Clubsport is schedule to only release in Europe. While there currently any plans for this impressive vehicle to make its way to this side of the Atlantic, that’s not to say that it won’t eventually make it to the US.
